Floodwaters wreak havoc on Houston roadways
HOUSTON -- Severe storms have dumped dangerous amounts of floodwater on Houston, wreaking havoc on roadways and freeways throughout the area.
A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for parts of Harris, Fort Bend and Wharton counties until 8:15am.
Fort Bend ISD and Houston ISD have delayed classes by two hours, and other schools have issued delays as well.
A Flood Warning has also been issued for Keegans Bayou at Roark Road, where minor flooding is already happening.
The National Weather Service says residents should avoid traveling in the area, as additional rainfall may result in more significant flooding today.
High water has already been reported on the northbound lanes of I-45 at N. Main, where cars are having to slow down to get through the floodwaters.
Highway 288 has been shut down in both directions due to rising water.
High water is also having a huge impact on the morning commute along HWY 59 from Fort Bend county through Downtown Houston and northeast into Liberty county.
Meantime, traffic reporter Katherine Whaley says several parts of METRORail service have been suspended.
The METRO Green Line is completely suspended due to weather this morning. On the Purple Line, service is suspected between Palm Center and EaDo.
On the Red Line, service is suspended between Burnett and Hermann.

Expect rainfall up to 6" across our area today, with some areas seeing even more.
Street flooding is likely for some areas after two days worth of soaking rains have saturated the ground.
Rain chances should fall late this week. The air blowing in behind the rain is from the Pacific, not the Arctic so don't expect temperatures to cool much.
