SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- San Francisco police are investigating a shooting near the Burlington Coat Factory at the corner of 5th and Howard.
Police say that some time after 2 p.m., a security guard confronted a man inside the store, who may have been shoplifting.
The two began to fight, which spilled out onto the street. That's when the security guard fired three shots.
The suspect, a 32-year-old white man, was shot in the abdomen and leg. He was rushed to SF General, where he is in stable condition.
The security guard was taken into custody.
Police have cordoned off the area.
