SAN FRANCISCO -- The weekend is just around the corner. Looking for something fun to do? We've has partnered with the team at Hoodline - the hyperlocal neighborhood website, to help you plan your weekend.

Get out your "Raspberry Beret" Saturday night because fans will be turning out to honor Prince in San Francisco and you're invited.

The event is called "This Thing Called Life: A Celebraton of Prince at the Mezzanine." It's free if you RSVP. The Mezzanine is accepting donations at the door to be given to charities of causes Prince supported.

If you want to be featured in a new ABC miniseries, then this weekend is your chance. "When We Rise" is about the LGBT rights movement in San Francisco. The director and writer are already known for their Oscar-winning work in the movie "Milk." They're filming from Saturday at 8 p.m. to Sunday at 7 a.m. in the Castro and they want extras with 1970's-style hair.

Saturday is also the third "Independent Bookstore Day." ABC7 News stopped by The Booksmith, an Upper Haight staple for 40 years now. Swing by from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday to see printmaking in action and learn how to make your own greeting cards.
