SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- San Francisco has a tasty new title -- 263 people tossed pizza dough outside of Tony's Pizza Napoletana in North Beach to set a world record of tossing the most pizza dough at one time.

The previous record was 250 people.

The event raised $20,000 for Family House, a San Francisco charity that provides temporary housing for kids with cancer and their families.

"Tony Gemignani, who spear headed this whole effort for us, is a huge Bay Area star and when he found out about Family House he wanted to do something for kids and families," Family House spokesperson Alexandra Morgan said. "Since so many kids and families love pizza, he wanted to do something to give back."

Organizers say the biggest challenge was getting all the dough up in the air at the same time.
