SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Imagine spending hours creating a work of art, just to watch it disappear moments later. That's what Brandon Anderton has done nearly 100 times.

On Thursday, he spent several hours making a beautiful sand design at San Francisco's Ocean Beach.

He started making this type of art after an accident left him with chronic pain and contemplating suicide. He says the repetitive motions are physically therapeutic. Seeing his art wash away is good for his mind, too.

"That's actually my favorite part," he said. "I'm out there and thinking about whatever as the catalyst for the design and then letting the waves come by and take it away, one bite at a time."

Anderton makes about one sand design a week. He says he gets his inspiration from his dreams.
