SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- A house caught fire in San Jose, but it wasn't the only thing that went up in smoke. In a story you'll see only on ABC7 News, police discovered 443 marijuana plants inside the home in the area of Prairiewood Court.
Authorities say the one-alarm fire started in the garage around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Neighbors say no one lived there, but they did see people coming and going over the past couple weeks.
"These people that were recently here would come home, pull their car in the garage, and they'd close the garage, and they never really come through the front entry door," said neighbor Erick Chapman.
The pot is valued at $500,000.
Police say the home bypassed PG&E and stole electricity to power the marijuana grow.
