SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- AC Transit's chief financial officer has entered a not guilty plea to embezzlement charges.

Prosecutors say Lewis Clinton, Jr. took more than $500,000 from Allen Temple Baptist Church in East Oakland. Clinton was in charge of the church's financial accounts.

Investigators say he spent the money on luxury cars, his kids' tuition and a golf club membership.

AC Transit officials say he remains on administrative leave and that they are confident the agency's money is safe.
