Encinal High School student in Alameda died at conclusion of football conditioning

ALAMEDA, Calif. (KGO) -- Officials said a student died Tuesday following the conclusion of football conditioning at Encinal High School in Alameda. The coroner has identified the victim as 15-year-old Giovanni Pulido of Oakland.

Encinal staff worked diligently to provide medical attention, and called 911 immediately.

Crews took the student to the hospital where he passed away.

Grief counselors will be available on campus for students and staff on Wednesday.

It is unknown if Tuesday's hot temperatures played a part in the medical emergency.
