The Facebook page of a convicted murderer has finally been taken down more than a month after an Orange County family first voiced complaints.

Alan David Salomon is serving 15 years to life for the murder of Mary Lewis nearly two decades ago.

Last month, Lewis' sister typed Salomon's name into Facebook just to see what would happen, and his Facebook page appeared.

"He stabbed her 16 times and left her to die in the middle of the middle of a street," said Anita Lewis, the victim's sister. "To see him in a picture hugging his mother that hurts that tears my heart out."

"He's sitting there gloating on Facebook, gloating about chillin' and my sister can't do that," said Robert Lewis, brother of the victim."Thoroughly disgusting that he's able to do that."

The family immediately called the State Department of Corrections.

Officials there said they alerted Facebook to take the page down.

Accounts set up and or monitored on behalf of an inmate are a violation of Facebook's user policies.

The page was finally taken down Wednesday morning, just hours after KABC, a sister station to ABC7 News, aired the family's complaints.
