For years, the court found that he was too far gone to stand trial. But after years of being treated for schizophrenia in a mental hospital in Santa Rosa, the court found Goh competent for trial.

"And what that means is he was able to talk about the case with my partner and discuss the possibility of resolving the case, said Goh's attorney David Klaus.

"We hope that with today's resolution of this case, the families of the victims, as well as those victims who survived these horrific acts fell that justice has been served," said Pettigrew.

One of the survivors texted ABC7 News to say: "I do not wish to speak on behalf of this, Just taking it all in at this point. Thanks for understanding."

A university administrator talked to ABC7 News off-camera to say the school will never forget that day.

Goh was a disgruntled nursing student who had dropped out. He was demanding a tuition refund. When the university did not comply, Goh went on a shooting rampage, killing seven and injuring three.

Christina Williams is a current student who knew about the shooting. "It's a good feeling to know that he finally had justice. I'm happy to hear that," said Williams.

Goh will be sentenced on July 14, 2017.
