YOLO COUNTY (KGO) -- A mandatory evacuation advisory has been issued for two neighborhoods in Yolo County after a large grass fire broke out just north of Vacaville Thursday afternoon.

Los Positas near Highway 128 and Golden Bear Estates residents are asked to start making evacuation plans.

The 1,600-acre fire, just south of Winters, threw huge plumes of smoke into the sky. They could be seen from miles away. It started just after 12:30 p.m. in a hilly, open area off Highway 128 and Pleasants Valley Road.

That highway to Napa County is closed until noon Friday as firefighters work to put out the flames.

The fire is now 15 percent contained thanks to air drops throughout the day.

One firefighter lost consciousness Thursday and had to go to the hospital in a helicopter.
