Motorcyclist seriously injured after crash in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO -- A female motorcyclist suffered serious injuries during a crash early Sunday morning in San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood,

according to police.

The collision was reported at 4:19 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Sixth and Mission streets, police said.

The motorcyclist is described as a woman in her 40s who allegedly drove into the back of a vehicle, according to police.

Emergency crews responded to the scene following the crash and found the motorcyclist suffering life-threatening injuries. She was transported via ambulance to San Francisco General Hospital, police said.

Police said the driver of the vehicle was a man in his 30s and that the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
