SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Protesters in San Francisco rallied to end violence against transgender people on Tuesday.
Hundreds gathered at city hall to remember Taja DeJesus. The 36-year-old was found stabbed to death in her apartment on Feb. 1.
Friends of the victim tell ABC7 News reporter Carolyn Tyler that the person who killed DeJesus then committed suicide, but San Francisco police are not confirming that. Authorities will only say that the suspect is no longer a threat to anyone.
Protesters said it's just the latest incident of violence targeting a transgender person of color.
They want the city to set up more support programs for the transgender community.
