SAN LEANDRO, Calif. -- Officials with BART now say a woman was fatally struck at the San Leandro station Thursday morning, not a child.
The incident was reported at 9:31 a.m. involving a train traveling from Fremont to Daly City, BART spokeswoman Alicia Trost said. The incident was initially reported as the death of a child.
BART police tell ABC7 News reporter Chris Nguyen that the woman was in her 30s and that the incident may have been a suicide.
Train service resumed at about 11:45 a.m. The death had shut down service at both the San Leandro and Oakland Coliseum stations and BART trains were turning around at the Fruitvale and Bay Fair stations.
