SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Animal shelters around the Bay Area hope this will be the weekend you'll stop by to bring home a new friend.
The sixth annual Maddie's Pet Adoption Days event continues this morning.
It's a free event for the public, with more than 80 shelters and rescues taking part at nearly 100 locations.
Those include Stoneridge Mall in San Francisco, Oakland Animal Services, and Baldwin Park in Concord.
Nearly 3,200 cats and dogs have already been adopted this weekend.
