The family dogs barking is the first sign something was going on. The second sign was two shiny eyes.
When the homeowners turned on the lights and looked out the window they saw a mountain lion dragging away a deer it had just killed.
"And it dragged the deer over the railing because there was deer hair over the top," said homeowner Peter Rauenbuehler.
Comments on our Facebook post range from sharing a habitat with mountain lions to safety tips.

Rauenbuehler told ABC7 News the humane society has taken away the deer's remains and wildlife experts say this is nature doing its work. Mountain lions generally don't attack unless threatened. We just need to give the big cats their space.
