We have a special Roundtable edition in celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month.

The month of May was selected to commemorate the first Japanese immigrants to the United States in May 1843, to mark the 1869 anniversary of the completion of the transcontinental railroad. Chinese immigrants did most of the work laying the tracks.

According to the 2010 U.S. Census, Asian Americans are the fastest growing race group in the country, with 17.3 million people, or 5.6% of the population. In the Bay Area, the numbers are even higher, about 23.6% of our residents, which comes out to about 1.7 million people.

We are joined by community advocates who are working hard to improve the social welfare of our Bay Area.
