DANVILLE, Calif. (KGO) -- An East Bay man whose co-workers dug deep to help him is doing the same for others.

You may remember Arlie Smith, who suffers from cancer and MS. His coworkers at Costco in Danville chipped in to send Arlie and his wife off on a vacation.

Arlie appreciated the gesture but ended up using the money to be the top fundraiser for the Children's Miracle Network.

Now he's back at it.

"There's kids in the hospital that their first memories are doctors and nurses and things like that, not playing in the park, not having fun like that," Arlie said.

Arlie launched his campaign on Monday with a $10,000 donation out of his own pocket.

He and Costco have raised nearly $200,000 for UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland and millions for the campaign here in the Bay Area and nationwide.
