Bay Area runners dominate 39th San Francisco Marathon

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Bay Area runners dominated the 39th San Francisco Marathon, which featured over 27,000 runners from around the world.

The winner's of the men's race, who came in first overall, was Max Haines Stiles of San Francisco. Oakland Tory Tyler, won the women's race. This is Tyler's first marathon win and her first time running The San Francisco Marathon.

Women's Marathon:

1) Tori Tyler, 28, Oakland, Calif., 2:49:51

2) Joanna Reyes, San Jose, Calif., 2:51:03

3) Audrey Gibson, New York, 2:58:43

The San Francisco Marathon runners raised more than $200,000 for charity partners. A full list of charity partners, click here.

Known as the original San Francisco race event with beautiful scenery and a strong community history, it's a sanctioned USA Track and Field race. It starts at the Ferry Building, runs along The Embarcadero, over the Golden Gate Bridge, through Golden Gate Park and the Haight Ashbury District before finishing in front of Cupid's Arrow near the Bay Bridge.

The events include a race for runners of all levels: 5K, two half marathons, a full marathon and ultramarathon. The San Francisco Marathon is the only full marathon and ultramarathon event in San Francisco. Those winners are listed below.

First Half Marathon

Men's: Paddy O'Leary, San Francisco, 1:11:59

Women's: Miranda Dibiasio, Berea, Ohio, 1:28:01

Second Half Marathon

Men's: Scott Trummer, Livermore, Calif., 1:07:29

Women's: Caitlin Chrisman, Mountain View, Calif., 1:15:31

Ultramarathon

Men's: Graham Hedger, London, 6:58:43 (combined 1st and 2nd marathons)

Women's: Heather King, Farmington, 8:36:57 (combined 1st and 2nd marathons)

5K

Men's: Brandon Nied, Reno, Nev., 16:11

Women's: Sasha Zarnke, Calgary, Canada, 18:54
