The Arizona Diamondbacks announced the signing of free-agent outfielder Gregor Blanco to a minor league contract with an invite to spring training on Thursday.
Blanco has eight years of major league experience, the last five of which have come with the San Francisco Giants. The 33-year-old slashed .259/.338/.360 in his time with the Giants, appearing in at least 100 games in all five seasons.
Blanco is perhaps best remembered in San Francisco for his seventh-inning diving catch on the warning track to preserve Matt Cain's 2012 perfect game.
Blanco struggled last season, hitting .224 with a home run and 18 RBIs in 241 at-bats. In 2015, he hit .291 with five homers and 26 RBIs in 327 at-bats.
