Elena Delle Donne is on a historic scoring tear to start the season.

After scoring 26 points in the Sky's loss to the Mystics on Sunday, she has 261 points this season, the most by a WNBA player in her first nine games of a season, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

Delle Donne, who is averaging 29 points per game, is on pace to break Diana Taurasi's record for the highest single-season PPG average in league history (25.3 in 2006), according to Elias.

Her scoring spree includes the career-high 45 points she scored last week in the Sky's overtime victory over the Dream.

She also has made 48 straight free throws -- 18 off the WNBA record set by Eva Nemcova during the 1999 and 2000 seasons, according to information provided by the WNBA from the Elias Sports Bureau. Lindsay Whalen holds the record for one year, making 54 straight in 2009. Delle Donne made 50 in a row last year.
