Madison Bumgarner's hometown of Caldwell County, North Carolina went crazy over his World Series performance.

The entire student body of his old high school crowded into the gymnasium to send Madison Bumgarner a greeting.

Bumgarner graduated from South Caldwell High School in 2007 after he led his high school baseball team to a state title.

The only person in town more excited is Bumgarner's mother Debbie.

"I like to be at home," she said. "I get too nervous. I went in 2010 and I can't handle it. I was sitting on the edge of the sofa and couldn't breath."

Caldwell County, population 80,000, is getting ready to announce a Madison Bumgarner Day and there are plans for a parade to honor their hometown MVP.

Madison Bumgarner's father sent his son a text message after the 8th inning Wednesday night.

He wrote: "OMG, you're so much more than awesome. To see you work on the mound reminds me of watching you in high school. You are willing

yourself to perfection and dragging the team along with you. I couldn't be more proud of your baseball accomplishments."

Kevin Bumgarner says he knew Madison would not read the text until the game was over, but he said he needed to tell him at that moment "What his daddy thought of him."
