Playoff frenzy hits Bay Area as Warriors play first game Saturday against Rockets

OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- Preparations are underway at Oracle Arena ahead of Saturday's first round playoff game between the Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets.

It's back to business for the Warriors and now their laser focus is set on the Rockets and round one of the playoffs.

When asked how much celebrating he did Wednesday night after his team won game 73, head coach Steve Kerr said with a smile, "Nothing, I'm boring. I think a beer. I think one beer. And that was about it and then I went home and went to bed."

Steph Curry is also focused squarely on what lies ahead.

"Just try to keep things simple," he said. "You know, have an edge, play hard. Focus on keeping them off the easy points on the offensive end."

In the meantime, Warriors fans are gearing up in their own way for Saturday's game.

Fan Cynthia Park was at the team's store to buy gear. When asked if she thinks it'll help them win she said, "I think any bit of positive energy and positive vibes we can send them, I think ultimately they'll feel it. So yeah, totally."

Still sporting two big scratches from Wednesday's battle, Klay Thompson's looking forward to seeing the fans again at Oracle, no matter what they're wearing.

"I'm excited to see 'em tomorrow, man," he said. "They're so fun to play in front of and it's such a crazy atmosphere in there."

For those thinking of going to the game, there are still some affordable $150 tickets floating around. But beware of ticket fraud. People are stealing bar codes from photos of tickets posted on Instagram or Facebook. On Wednesday night 60 tickets wouldn't scan.

Besides the game inside Oracle, the team has set up tents outside for a fan experience area that opens at 9 a.m.

If you're heading to Oracle on Saturday, here's a friendly warning to plan ahead. The traffic crunch is expected to be even worse than Wednesday's game with the Warriors tipoff at 12:30 p.m. and the Oakland Athletics' first pitch at 1:05 p.m. BART is a great option if you don't want to drive.

If you're not lucky enough to have a ticket to Saturday's showdown, ABC7 is the only place where you can watch the game. Our coverage begins at noon.
