Colin Kaepernick's decision to kneel during the national anthem as a racial protest has spread to a few other NFL teams. But is it ready to transcend the gridiron and spread to the hockey rink?

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Colin Kaepernick's decision to kneel during the national anthem as a racial protest has spread to a few other NFL teams. But is it ready to transcend the gridiron and spread to the hockey rink?

First it was just Kaepernick. Then teammate Eric Reid joined in next. Then, last game, Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall took a knee. Even the Oakland Unified School District's honor band is taking part, all to protest violence against African Americans at the hands of police.

Is the overwhelmingly white National Hockey League ready to join in?
