Heat Advisory to go into effect this weekend in Bay Area

The Bay Area is about to see its hottest weather so far this year! After an extended period of unseasonably cool temperatures, the region will see a surge of warmth that will create widespread 90s and 100 degree heat that will stretch for more than 1 day. It is for that reason the National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Watch for the entire region, except for the immediate coastline, starting on Friday and lasting through the weekend.

Below you can see the temperature forecast for the next three days. Sunday, Father's Day, will be particularly hot with inland spots going well into the triple digits and many cities around the Bay surging into the 90s.

Prolonged exposure to these temperatures will increase the risk of heat related illnesses. Some heat tips: make sure to drink plenty of water, take frequent breaks in the shade outside and check on pets and the elderly as they are the most susceptible to this heat.

Looking forward into next week, this heat does not look to break. In fact some of the hottest air in the United States will be centered over California.
