One officer had escorted a driver safely off 680 after he spun out, hit another car and ended up facing the wrong way in the median.

"It was a very scary moment. I had reflections of my life at one point," said Jorge Gomez, who was driving the car.

"We got downed trees and downed power lines, and a lot of crashes, roads wet. A lot of flooding," said CHP Officer Armstrong.

Another driver had the misfortune of being on the Steven's Creek Boulevard onramp just as a massive branch came crashing down from high above.

"The tree fell over the fence here from someone else's property. Just goes to show you don't know what you're going to run into," explained Armstrong.

Another large branch came down along Alum Rock and the sidewalk flooded in front of Valley Fair Mall.

The weather related problems weren't limited to the roads.

Ethan Lam was home with his family a tree fell onto their porch.

"I was rerouted to the fire department and they came here moments later and rescued us," said Lam.
