Rain makes comeback in Bay Area, brings strong winds

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- The rain made a comeback in the Bay Area Wednesday night.

Flooding could be seen on the skyway approaching the Bay Bridge. Pooling water made the night's commute difficult for drivers headed out of the city.

The storm is bringing heavy winds. At one point, gusts on the Golden Gate Bridge reached 76 miles per hour. A wind advisory is in effect until 4 a.m.

The wet weather is causing delays for arriving flights, some nearly two and a half hours. Departing flights are also facing delays, so the San Francisco International Airport is telling passengers to check with their airline.

The storm wreaked havoc on North Bay roadways. At around 7:15 p.m. the California Highway Patrol says the driver of a pickup truck flipped his vehicle on northbound Highway 101 near the Atherton exit in Novato. The driver was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. Close to 10 people called the accident in, many reporting a dog running through traffic that may have been hit.

The weather also caused thousands of people to lose power across the Bay Area. According to PG&E more than 5,000 PG&E customers were in the dark during the peak of this storm.

According to PG&E, as of 11 p.m. 200 customers in the North Bay; 2,365 in the South Bay; 780 in the East Bay; 230 in the Peninsula; and 80 customers in San Francisco were all without power.
