SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (KGO) -- These are trying times for farmers and ranchers in the North Bay. An agricultural drought emergency is in effect in Marin County. That means, some who depend on the land to make a living, will get financial help.
The help is coming too late for some ranchers in the midst of California's drought. Just feeding the cattle can be a big financial burden.
The lack of rain provided almost no feed for cattle, forcing many rangers to buy it.
Farmers and ranchers across California hope this year brings an early winter with normal rainfall.
