TIMELINE: Scattered rain arrives Sunday AM, Level 2 system overnight into Monday morning commute

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Storms are making their way back into the San Francisco Bay Area, bringing heavy showers in some regions.

ABC7 News meteorologist Lisa Argen has a timeline of what to expect.

The pattern is turning active starting Sunday as we track rain through Wednesday. Here is the current forecast using the ABC7 Exclusive Storm Impact Scale.

Sunday: Level 1
Monday: Level 2
Tuesday: Level 1
Wednesday: Level 1

Sunday


Scattered rain showers arrive this morning and lingers throughout the day.
Rainfall estimates of .05" in the far East Bay to nearly a half of an inch in the North bay is expected through 11 p.m. tonight with this level 1 storm.

Monday


The rain looks to be heavy at times Monday morning, along with gusty south winds.
Heavier downpours, an isolated thunderstorm and wind gusts to 30 mph will make the Monday morning commute challenging.

This is a Level 2 Moderate storm.
Rain will continue on & off throughout the day and into the evening.
Rainfall will add up to over 2" in the North Bay and the rest of the Bay receiving .50" to an inch & a half through 11 p.m. Monday.

Tuesday & Wednesday


The Tuesday morning commute will be slick with more downpours.

The rain continues as it slides south along the central coast into later Wednesday.





Additional rainfall will put 4 day totals to nearly 4" in the far North Bay & mainly 2-3" for the rest of the Bay Area.
