Nevada lawmakers address plan for proposed A's ballpark in Las Vegas

CARSON CITY, Nev. (KGO) -- The future of the Oakland A's was the topic of discussion on Monday for Nevada state lawmakers who worked into the evening addressing the financing plan for a proposed A's Ballpark in Las Vegas.

Two state Senate committees discussed Senate Bill 509 providing up to $380 million in public money for a $1.5 billion ballpark.

When a state lawmaker asked whether the A's would stay in Oakland if the stadium plan is not approved, the CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority said.

"If this agreement does not go through, they will look for other cities to move to. They will not decide to stay even though this does not go through," said Steve Hill, Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority CEO.

Nevada Lawmakers have a little more than a week to consider the proposal before they adjourn June 5, though they could call a special session to vote on it.
