TIMELINE: 2nd atmospheric river arrives in Bay Area late Monday night

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Our second atmospheric river arrives in the Bay Area late Monday night and will soak us Tuesday with heavy rain and strong winds. The worst rain and wind will be between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tuesday. Flood risk will be highest in the North Bay.

MONDAY - Level 2 this evening


  • Overcast skies, quiet conditions until 4 p.m.

  • 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. heavy rain returns to the North Bay

  • After 7 p.m. heavy rain slowly spreads south across rest of Bay Area

  • Late tonight we could begin to see new issues with flooding in the North Bay

TUESDAY - Level 3


  • Tuesday morning will see scattered downpours

  • Between 1 p.m. - 7 p.m. a line of intense downpours and strong winds will cross north to south

  • This is the time we could see numerous reports of flooding and issues with trees coming down

  • Between 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. rain stops, winds diminish
