Officers tried to stop the white Mercedes SUV and that's when the pursuit was initiated.
The SUV was reportedly traveling at a high-rate of speed before its tires were blown out by spike strips. The car then limped through the Mission District with more than a dozen patrol cars behind it.
Finally, almost 30 minutes in, the driver bolted from the car and tried to carjack another vehicle but the driver quickly backed away.
Officers chased the man into an alley, where he paced back and forth behind several cars with a backpack in his hands.
