CASTRO VALLEY, Calif. (KGO) -- An adult female driver crashed her car into Primary Eye Care Optometrics in Castro Valley Friday morning.
The driver was travelling at high rate speed southbound on Lake Chabot Road just after 7 a.m..
As she approached intersection at Castro Valley Blvd, she bounced off a curb, drove across six lanes of traffic and then crashed into the building, taking down a power pole in the process.
"The sheer force taking out that pole and shooting across that intersection, it was an experience I had not seen," explained CHP spokesperson, Daniel Jackowitz.
The driver, who has not been identified, was temporarily trapped until emergency crews got her out and transport her to Eden Medical Center.
She suffered moderate to potential major injuries. It is unknown if alcohol was involved.
The doctors office was closed so there were no patients inside at the time of the crash. Two nurses, however, were already at work but were not injured.
"I feel sorry for my patients. We are going to be closed now for awhile. I don't understand drivers who take out light poles and go through buildings at 80 mph. It's not a good day for us. It's not a good day for our patients," said Gary Osias, the doctor whose office was hit.
