'DWTS' pro to have appendix removed

LOS ANGELES (AP) - October 28, 2008 The 20-year-old professional dancer and country music singer, who's partnered with "Hannah Montana" actor Cody Linley on ABC's popular dancing competition, will undergo minor surgery Tuesday to remove her appendix, according to a statement posted on her Web site Monday.

"I'm actually going into surgery tomorrow to remove my appendix, but everything is OK," Hough said on the show Monday after performing a samba routine with Linley. "I'm going to hopefully be back if everything goes as planned next week."

The two-time "Dancing with the Stars" champion went to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center following last week's live results show and later said she had a stomachache and was feeling fine.

If Linley isn't eliminated Tuesday, co-host Samantha Harris announced he will be paired with professional dancer Edyta Sliwinska, who was previously partnered with comedian Jeffrey Ross, the first celebrity eliminated this season.

Hough has been diagnosed with endometriosis, a common condition in which tissue from the uterus lining grows outside the uterus, causing painful cysts and possible infertility. The growths can appear on the surfaces of organs in the pelvis or abdomen. Hough said she just found out she had the condition.
