Santa Rosa police have arrested a truant high school student who allegedly painted extensive gang graffiti on the walls of Piner High School the night of Dec. 2.

Preliminary information suggests the suspect, 16, is also responsible for other graffiti cases reported throughout Santa Rosa, police Sgt. Lisa Banayat said. Officers are currently reviewing those reports and matching them up with the suspect's statement, she said.

The suspect was caught on school security cameras and arrested on charges of felony vandalism.

He is a student at Elsie Allen High School, also in Santa Rosa. Police said they arrested him there on Monday when he returned to school from an unauthorized absence.

Anyone with information on the case should call Officer Alan Rosenthal at (707) 543-4060.
