The victim told police she had communicated with "BiggMarv" via e-mail and Twitter (twitter.com/BiggMarv), and later by phone. Police later identified the man as 33-year-old Marvin Turell Grant.

On July 28, 2009, the victim claims she met Grant at a hotel in Livermore. They went out to dinner and later returned to the hotel room where the victim says Grant sexually assaulted her.

Investigators contacted Grant by phone who agreed to self-surrender on two different occasions, but never showed up. Police eventually arrested him Thursday afternoon in rural Tracy.

Police have confirmed to ABC7 that Grant is associated with the A&E television show "Hammertime," a reality show based on the life of rapper MC Hammer. On the show's Web site he is referred to as "Cousin Marv."

MC Hammer posted this comment on his Twitter page (twitter.com/MChammer) Thursday: "Marv has been picked up. Were standing by him. Welcome to Fame Cousin Marv. Were Praying for you."
