$10,000 raised for food bank through Facebook

Last month, Carolee Hazard was at the grocery store when she loaned a shopper who'd lost her wallet $207 for her grocery bill. That shopper promptly paid Hazard back -- with an even $300 for her trouble.

Hazard wrote about it on her Facebook page, and a friend suggested donating the extra money to a food bank. She did that, which inspired others to donate $93.

The effort has now raised $10,000 for the Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo counties.
