Ingram family celebrates Heisman win

MID-MICHIGAN Ingram's three younger sisters couldn't be prouder of their big brother.

Countless other relatives are just as proud, including his great-grandmother, Gertie Wright. "So proud, like my, my heart might bust out of my chest."

Ninety years young and still going strong, Gertie Wright is still grinning from ear to ear after watching her great-grandson bring home the Heisman Trophy.  "Oh, I shouted. We shouted. We just had a good time shouting. I was so thankful."

Gertie and Mark's cousins cheered from their Mount Morris Township home. Not too far away in Flint, Mark's sisters held their own victory party. "I knew all along he was the best player and he was gonna get it," Mia Ingram said.

"I thought he was gonna in it. Either way, if he didn't, he's still my Heisman winner," added Miya Ingram.

Sunday night they made cookies at their aunt's house.  Saturday night they watched their big brother on the big stage. Their grandparents and mom had a front-row seat as Mark thanked them all.

"It's kind of like a dream like, and it was very overwhelming, and made me very proud and excited," Miya said.

At 16, Miya is closest in age to Mark, followed by Mia, 11 and the baby is 9-year-old Malia. They say it's surreal to watch their brother on TV every Saturday, but when he's home, he's just Mark. "He likes to play the Wii, listen to music and eat," Mia said.

Plans are already in the works to honor the Heisman winner here in Flint. Meanwhile, these girls have plans of their own for their big brother's holiday homecoming.

"Give him a big hug.  Tell him good job," Mia said.

"I'm gonna say I'm proud of him, and we're probably just gonna sit, eat and play," Malia said

Great-grandmother Gertie can't wait to see him either, and hopes many more get to meet their Heisman hero. "He's really a wonderful person. If you ever got to know him, you would love him, too."

As for the national championship game next month against Texas. All three girls are predicting a tough game, with Alabama coming out on top.

Mia says it will be a 12-point game and Mark will score two touchdowns.
