HIV/AIDS
Hosted by ABC7's Cheryl Jennings
This week's episode of "Beyond the Headlines" discusses the continuing fight against HIV/AIDS.
The San Francisco Aids Foundation reports that nearly two hundred thousand people in California have contracted the virus since the epidemic began over thirty years ago, and nearly ninety thousand of those have been lost to AIDS. But there is new hope! You will hear from community leaders about Truvada, a new ground breaking HIV/AIDS prevention drug. They'll explore how HIV/AIDS affects communities around the bay area, AIDSWalks in both San Francisco and the East bay, and how we can work together in educating people about HIV/AIDS and prevent the spread of this horrible disease.
