SAN FRANCISCO -- BART police arrested a person who was allegedly walking on the tracks in San Francisco Thursday evening, according to a BART spokesperson.

A person was reported entering the track between Powell and Civic Center stations in San Francisco around 6 p.m., according to BART spokesman Taylor Huckaby.

The BART tracks were shut down while police searched for the person, causing major delays of up to 20 minutes.

Police apprehended the individual and removed them from the tracks. Service was restored shortly after 6 p.m. but residual delays persisted, Huckaby said.
