3-year-old boy who drowned in Antioch pool identified

ANTIOCH, Calif. -- A 3-year-old boy who drowned in a family swimming pool Wednesday evening has been identified as Chinweike Anwukah, according to the Contra Costa County coroner's office.

At 7:20 p.m., someone called 911 to report that the child had been discovered in a pool at a home in the 4000 block of Rocky Point Drive,according to police.

CPR instructions were given to the caller while police and emergency medical personnel were sent to the home. They arrived within minutes of the 911 call, police said.

The boy was taken by ambulance to a hospital but "further lifesaving efforts failed to revive the child," police said.

The drowning appears to be accidental, police said.

No additional information was provided by police.
