First solar eclipse of 2017 images from Latin America

Stunning new images just released show the first solar eclipse of 2017.

Some of the best views were in Latin America. People in Chile gathered Sunday to witness the phenomenon that looks a lot like something out of the "Lord of the Rings" saga.

NASA calls it "The ring of fire". It's a rare solar eclipse when the moon is too far from the earth to cover the sun completely, resulting in a glowing red ring in the sky.
