OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- Students at an Oakland school received some news Friday that was music to their ears.
StubHub, along with the Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation, donated $20,000 worth of brand new instruments to the music program at Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School.
It's part of the ticket agency's $1 million effort to boost arts programs at schools nationwide.
"The kids are so excited to play new instruments," said music teacher Alison Streich. "Now more kids than ever want to sign up for the band program. Couldn't be more exciting."
The kids were also treated to a performance by a San Francisco-based band called "The Family Crest."
The group even let fifth-grader Otis Ward try out one of the new trombones during their song.
