'Flower grandpa' brings unconventional joy to granddaughter's wedding
One grandfather was part of his granddaughter's wedding in an entirely new way.

BUCKHEAD, Ga. (KGO) -- One grandfather was part of his daughter's wedding in an entirely new way. His role was unconventional yet charming. Jennifer, who asked that her last name not be used, asked her grandfather Stanley, 85, to be her "flower grandpa" to show how special their relationship is.

It took some convincing to get him to walk down the aisle and throw petals. Jennifer recalled that it took months.

Jennifer's grandmother wasn't too happy about the idea either.

"She was concerned that people would be laughing at him and not with him, but once I convinced both of them that...we would make it more masculine and more appropriate for an 85-year-old man he was excited and ready to do it," Jennifer told ABC News.

Jennifer says that on the day of the wedding Stanley forgot what to do and ended up throwing the petals not on the runway, but on guests as he walked by them. She says it brought joy to her guests and she was thankful that her grandfather came through.

Jennifer and her now husband were married on Oct. 1, 2016 in Buckhead, Georgia.
