FREMONT, Calif. (KGO) -- The Fremont Unified School District has decided to shelve a controversial sex-ed textbook.
The book, called "Your Health Today," was for ninth grade health classes. It covers a wide array of subjects including relationships, stress, nutrition, fitness, and drugs.
But parents say a 21 page sexual health chapter in the book contained inappropriate descriptions of sexual activities.
The book became a huge controversy, even generating over 1,000 signatures in an online petition.
Teachers will use last year's book while the district evaluates parental concerns.
