GoPro footage that was thought to be lost two years ago after it floated up into the stratosphere has been recovered and returned to its owner.
In 2013, several classmates at Stanford University launched a GoPro attached to weather balloon. They had attached a cell phone to the balloon in hopes of finding the camera when it landed.
It ended up landing in an area with no service. Recently, a woman found it near the Grand Canyon and was able to find the owner using the SIM card.
The camera reached as high as 19 miles above the ground and traveled for 98 minutes before landing, catching images of the canyon and earth.
