Bay Area woman with unique name to compete on 'Jeopardy!'
A Bay Area woman with a unique name will compete on "Jeopardy!" Monday night.

BURBANK, Calif. (KGO) -- Monday is a big night for a Bay Area woman on ABC7 -- "Jeopardy!" will introduce, "A technical writer and actress from Pacifica, California, Pidge Meade!"

The local woman is one of the three contestants you'll see on Monday's episode. When asked about her unique name, she told Alex Trebek it's actually an acronym.

"When my mother found herself unexpectedly pregnant late in life, she appealed to her bridge club partners -- she was a bridge master -- for help in naming me," she said. "So they all said if you have a girl name her after me. So she took the first letter of everybody's first name and put it together to make Pidge."

Pidge earned a spot on the show after trying out in the Bay Area in March of 2015. ABC7 News was there for that tryout. You can tune in Monday to see how she does.

"Jeopardy!" airs weeknights at 7 p.m. on ABC7.
