Queens film student does undercover video about living life 4 feet tall

NEW YORK -- Jonathan Novick wants you to know what's it's like to be 4 feet tall.

The Queens 22-year-old has created a documentary that offers a taste of the harassment and humiliation that comes with being his size.

In "Don't Look Down on Me," the film student explains why the terms "dwarf" or "little person" are non-offensive words to describe him.

But offensive references to his size are included in the documentary that Novick spent two days in July shooting using an undercover camera. It depicts the innocent curiosity of kids, but also the vulgar comments others make. Some people snap sneaky paparazzi-esque photos.

"It is something that bothers me," said Novick.

Novick shot the video in different parts of Manhattan, motivated by the fact that he was sick and tired of people being rude to him in the streets.

Instead of lashing out in anger, Novick chose to fight back with his video. With more than 1.4 million hits on YouTube, the next step is to document how others are being taunted just like he is.

There are "more stories to tell and to spread awareness," he said.
