SONOMA CO, Calif. -- Authorities have recovered the body of a 14-year-old boy who fell from an inner tube on Lake Sonoma Saturday afternoon, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies responded at about 3:50 p.m. to a report that the boy fell from the inner tube as it was being pulled by a personal watercraft, sheriff's officials said.
The boy was one of two boys on inner tubes being towed behind the watercraft, according to the sheriff's office. One was able to swim to safety.
The juveniles were being pulled through an area of deep water when they fell, according to the Marin County Sheriff's Office, which was helping in the search.
Sheriff's officials said witnesses told them neither boy was wearing a life jacket.
Dive teams continued the search Sunday, expanding to the channel area outside of the marina.
The U.S. Army Corp of Engineers and Lakeville firefighters assisted in the search, according to the sheriff's office.
