Teenager kayaking in San Mateo badly hurt after being hit by boat

SAN MATEO, Calif. (KGO) -- A teenager is being treated at a trauma center, after being badly hurt when a boat hit his kayak.

The incident took place in San Mateo in a slough behind homes along Fathom Drive, near Mariners Island Boulevard just before four Sunday afternoon.

San Mateo Police tell us the person who was operating the boat is cooperating with investigators.

There is no word yet on what caused the accident.
